Botox Injections Treatment and Schedule

Since the beginning of 2002, millions of Botox procedures have taken place. Because Botox is not permanent, you’ll need regular injections for maintenance in order to continue enjoying the benefits.

Botox Treatment Schedule

When you begin to notice muscle movements occurring around the treated area you’ll know it’s time for you to schedule another round of treatments. In order to prevent worsening wrinkles consider scheduling a treatment before you notice a return of full muscle movement in the area.

Sometimes, after the first few treatments, patients see the effects of Botox last longer than anticipated—allowing you to go for a longer period–before requiring any additional Botox treatments.

Are Botox Injections Safe for Ongoing Treatment?

As with any procedure, this answer is dependent upon each individual case. Because you’re introducing a foreign substance into your body there are times when safety is an issue. However, your plastic surgeon will advise you on the side effects associated with Botox treatments, and together you can determine if the benefits outweigh any possible side effects and risks. Botox can cause side effects, but the occurrence of severe and long-lasting effects are very rare and are typically minor and short-termed. Nevertheless, if you have an allergy to any ingredients found in Botox or you currently have a skin infection Botox treatments should not be advised.

For most, it’s perfectly acceptable and recommended that you get Botox maintenance injections approximately every two to three months. Receiving on-going treatments of Botox will not cause adverse side-effects. However, there are an extremely small percentage of people– 1 in 10,000, who can show signs of Botox-resistance, meaning that the treatments no longer provide any benefits. As you can see, the chance of this occurring is very rare, and most people can tolerate Botox for years with positive results.
