CO2 LASER

The Total FX C02 laser is a unique combination laser treatment that combines the benefits of both Active FX and Deep FX laser skin resurfacing. This innovative cosmetic procedure can be used to reduce the appearance of sun damage and acne scars with minimal recovery time. CO2 lasers could be used to resurface the skin much in the same ways chemical peels would. Anywhere on the face and chest can be resurfaced. The most common requests made by our patients are the skin around the eyes and mouth, which are the first to show signs of aging.

TYPES OF CO2 LASER TREATMENTS

Active FX laser skin resurfacing uses pulsed or continuous beams of light to remove layers of damaged skin while minimizing damage to the surrounding healthy skin. Active FX improves the cosmetic appearance of the skin by eliminating dark spots, wrinkles, fine lines, and scars on the chest, neck, and face. The procedure stimulates the production of collagen and healthy skin looks firm and youthful. The results of an Active FX treatment are noticeable in as little as one week.

Deep FX is another cosmetic procedure designed to reduce the appearance of scars and deep wrinkles and lines. The Deep FX laser is able to reach the lower portion of the skin’s collagen layer for those areas needing more aggressive treatment.

The Total FX C02 laser allows the laser surgeon to combine both treatments to achieve optimal results. The skin of the face and neck becomes smooth, tight, and wrinkle-free. The treatment can fade skin discolorations from sun damage and soften vertical lines around the lips caused by smoking. Total FX is also effective in reducing the appearance of scars from surgery or trauma.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TREATMENT

Anyone considering laser skin resurfacing should schedule a consultation with a qualified laser surgeon. The doctor will determine whether Total FX, Active FX, or Deep FX is most appropriate based on the area and issue to be treated. Topical anesthetics and oral sedation are used to ensure that the patient remains comfortable throughout the treatment. Most treatments take 45 to 90 minutes to complete. It is normal to experience some redness and skin irritation similar to a minor sunburn following the treatment. Dr. Schwarcz will also prescribe a post-treatment skin care regimen to promote healing and improve the overall health of the skin.
