Facial Implants

Facial implants are used to improve and enhance facial contours while providing a harmonious balance to your facial features. A facial implant is recommended when there is a noticeable loss of muscle in the face. If you seek to create more facial volume and a fuller, healthier, more balanced appearance, consider the benefits of a facial implant. Both men and women can benefit from facial implants as it counteracts the natural wear and tear that comes with the aging process.

There are a variety of facial implant materials available for use and common practice, all of which are safe. For example, Silastic and Gortex are commonly used for facial implants. Facial implants are comprised of dormant materials which are safe and do not cause any unwanted reactions in the body. An implant is typically inserted through the mouth or natural furrows and grooves of the face as to go unnoticed by the naked eye.

What can you expect from a facial implant?

The purpose of utilizing a facial implant is to create more balanced appearance. When viewing an individual's profile, the nose and chin should line up in a harmonious fashion. To achieve this effect, a chin implant may be needed.

Some of our patients may choose to have a facial implant in conjunction with another cosmetic procedure. For example, a patient may wish to have implants placed over the cheekbones to create volume and fullness simultaneous to a facelift to decrease sagging and excessive skin. Implants may also be selected to fill the face where it appears “sunken” or tired.

Alternatively, you may also be a candidate for facial fillers which is a non-surgical procedure. Dr. Schwarcz will be able to determine the best cosmetic procedure for your specific needs and will thoroughly review and discuss your options at your request.
