Botox & Dysport

What is Botox?

Botox is a cosmetic injectable that reduces facial wrinkles associated with frowning, smiling, laughing, and other expressions. The injection contains botulinum toxin, which weakens the facial muscles responsible for many fine lines. It may also increase collagen production.

Botox is a simple aesthetic procedure that can produce dramatic anti-aging results.

Are injections right for me?

If you’d like to look younger without surgery or downtime, injections might be the solution. To find out if you’re a good candidate for the procedure, Dr. Schwarcz reviews your medical history and examines your skin. Injections reduce lines and wrinkles near or on your:

  • Forehead
  • Mouth
  • Brows
  • Nose
  • Eyes

It’s also often effective to reduce lazy eye, overactive bladder, excessive sweating, migraines, involuntary muscle contractions or spasms, and eye twitching. Dr. Schwarcz also uses injections during non-surgical brow lifts.

How should I prepare for injections?

To get ready for a procedure, tell Dr. Schwarcz about medications you might take and any health conditions you have. Medication includes muscle relaxants, sleep aids, allergy medications, and blood thinners. He can numb the treatment area prior to your injection to optimize comfort.

What happens during injections?

During procedures, Dr. Schwarcz gently inserts a tiny needle just beneath your skin into facial muscles in the areas of concern. He injects Botox, and sometimes other injectables like dermal fillers, at targeted sites to give you the most effective, natural-looking outcome.

Each treatment lasts about 10 minutes, but every patient is different. Avoid touching or massaging treated areas after your injections.

What should I expect after the procedure?

There’s no downtime after injections, so you can resume a normal routine right away. You might notice smoother, tighter, younger-looking skin several days after the procedure. Final results appear within 2-4 weeks. After about four months, when the effects wear off, repeat injections help you maintain anti-aging results long-term.

Don’t settle for fine lines, wrinkles, and other unwelcome signs of aging when simple cosmetic treatments are available at the office of Robert M. Schwarcz, MD. Schedule your next appointment over the phone or book online today.
