One of the most prominent advancements in plastic surgery is the mid-facelift. The mid-facelift is an innovative procedure that promotes a complete facial rejuvenation for women who would like to reduce sagging above the mouth but below the eyes.
Prior to the invention of the mid facelift, plastic surgeons performed the traditional facelift, which is a procedure that is more suited for the rejuvenation of the lower face and neck. A traditional facelift will reduce the signs of mid and lower facial aging in men and women.
Many of our patients seek to achieve the following facial conditions:
Decrease sagging cheeks and early jowling
Reduce naso-labial folds, which are crease lines that extend from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth
Obtain a more permanent solution to aging than the thread-lift procedure provides.
Dr. Schwarcz often combines the mid-facelift with a traditional facelift or an endoscopic forehead lift. The mid-facelift is performed endoscopically by using a small camera to create incisions behind the hairline. By employing absorbable sutures, the mid-facial cheek tissues are restored to their natural posture. Once these sutures dissolve, the check tissues adhere to the underlying bone to remain in a youthful position.
Following the surgery, Dr. Schwarcz will perform measures to reduce swelling in order to support a healthy recovery by placing bandages and surgical drains on a patient’s face. Although most patients have minimal pain after the mid-facelift, some may experience a mild discomfort for a few days. The typical recovery period of the mid-facelift is approximately two weeks.
