Brow Lift

Drooping of the eyebrows often puts added weight on the eyelids adding to a more tired look to the eyes. The brow lift or forehead lift raises and repositions a drooping brow.

Surgery:

There are many different ways of performing a brow lift, but is most commonly performed via an endoscopic route. Five one centimeter vertical incisions are made just behind the hairline to allow access for a camera and all the tissue is elevated off the bone of the forehead and elevated. This can be done under an open approach either in front of the hairline (pretrichial) or behind it removing scalp (coronal). The scalp is then suspended with either screws or endotines or other suspension deices.

Recovery:

Surgery is often done under a local anesthesia with sedation. One can expect a dull headache for up to two days, and some numbness of the scalp for up to 1 month. There could be swelling or bruising that tracks down to the lower face or even neck as a result of the effects of gravity.

Doctor’s Ideology:

A brow lift could be a powerful procedure, opening the eyes, and relieving the weight of the brows on the eyelids. The result should be a subtle well rested look, not surprised, or like a deer in headlights! The heavy muscles that aid in frowning the brow (the corrugator) could be debulked and the need for Botox after surgery diminished. A brow lift must be tailored as all facial surgery whether for a man or woman to fit the other dimensions and characteristics of the face.
