Blepharospasm
Blepharospasm, is twitching around the eyes and meige syndrome is extension to the lower face. This can be very uncomfortable to the patient, causing excessive blinking or twitching of the eyelids, and face or even apraxia (difficulty initiating a blink, or closure of the eyelid). The cause is unknown, but the treatment is quite effective with botox injections, If that fails, there are some surgical techniques used to address the problem. Botox can be used for blepharospasm, hemifacial spasm, migraines and excessive sweating. Botox is a toxin produced by the bacteria Clostridium Botulinum which weakens muscles by blocking nerve impulses transmitted from the nerve endings of the muscles. Botox on average lasts for three months.
